Introduction to Vacuum Windows Viewports
Windows are used to make devices for observation, optics and energy introduction. High Vacuum (HV) is joined by O-ring. Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) windows are bonded by vacuum hard soldering. Most of the windows are "zero-length windows" where the glass surface does not protrude beyond the mounting flange, which not only protects the window from accidental damage, but also provides a good viewing angle.
